For the last few years, one of my close friends and I have been playing pranks on each other whenever we have a birthday... My evil plan last year was too duct tape all of her gifts shut, and then put another duct taped box inside of that like a giant cardboard-and-tape matryoshka doll. Needless to say, I just about died laughing when she spent almost an hour opening them - my many days of collecting cardboard boxes and hours of duct taping them (I think I used three rolls. Is it just me, or did anyone else experience a complete lack of 'Halloween spirit?' I found that fewer people than ever had joined in the festivities this year (at least in my neighborhood). Last year, we had about two hundred trick-or-treaters. The number today couldn't have been more than fifty. I noticed that, even at my school, people weren't as interested in the holiday, nor were the decorations nearly as extravagant as the previous year. I couldn't seem to find any explanation for this.
